The Dream Maker

The Dream Maker plunges into early 1980s China, where Pingchuan County envisions Yuehai Town as a catalyst for economic development. Two outstanding local leaders champion the belief that a city belongs to its people and should be built by them. Seizing the unique opportunities of the reform and opening-up era and new national policies, they devise an unprecedented fundraising and partnership strategy. Against all odds and without a single penny of state investment, they inspire and guide thousands of farmers to construct a modern metropolis on barren tidal flats. This incredible feat of city building from nothing becomes a historical miracle, fundamentally transforming the destinies of countless families. It’s a compelling saga of visionaries who dared to think big and achieve the extraordinary during a pivotal decade in China.
