Later, I Laughed

This series introduces Xiao Ya, a 26-year-old working for a large corporation. Though her life appears perfect with a stable job and a motivated boyfriend, she constantly accommodates others and suppresses her own voice, creating an internal struggle and deep discomfort. She feels like she’s barely holding on. The turning point arrives when her boyfriend makes three major life decisions for her – regarding her job, their engagement, and their housing – all without her input. Finally breaking her silence, Xiao Ya, fueled by drinks, impulsively improvises a standup comedy routine mocking her boyfriend at a bar. To her surprise, the audience erupts in laughter, and she finds support from new friends in the comedy scene. This unexpected stage becomes her newfound freedom, allowing her to express herself openly for the first time. This brings her immense joy and marks the vibrant beginning of a new, authentic chapter in her life.
